Most (?) Europeans are multilingual. When I was working in Denmark 40 yrs ago, I could communicate with Danes in either English or rudimentary German. I suspect their English has improved with EU.
You should visit Denmark. Lovely country, down-to-earth people.
Didn’t have a language problem during my short visit. English is a popular 2nd language in Scandinavia. All it would take is a lottery win to entice kids and their kids to come with.
They have excellent classes for foreigners - all free of course. You can get by with English, but you will only fit in (understand broadcast media, chat with people on the street) if you speak Danish.
Finnish is easier! It makes much more sense because there is only one way to pronounce words and more importantly the Fins are already very well versed at keeping Russians away. I may go there.
Maybe just wait for the west coast to secede. Might not be long. You can have your choice of weather and languages in California. That’s my plan at this point and I live in Blue Colorado.
It's been awhile since I was there, but the entire culture and way of life always impressed me. Don't worry about speaking Danish as all children learn English starting in grade school.

I used to have Swedish customers - they spoke and wrote better English than I did.
It's only English speakers who speak only one language.
OOOH, I may have misread that.
