To be clear, I wrote the first version of Death of Expertise before Trump was even a candidate. We never thought of putting him on the cover because it's not about him - it's about all of us.
This is so true and so devastating. Tom Nichols' book is SO important to read... The Death of Expertise. Trump should have been on cover (understandably wasn't--pesky lawsuits). MAGA, beginning w/ tea party, began to purge public education of factual textbooks from curriculum in red states. FL, TX.

They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will
In times of stress, I would get a bowl of Portuguese Fish Chowder at Anthony's Seafood. But I now live hundreds of miles away
Could you please drive over to Anthony's & take a pic of a warm bowl of Portuguese Fish Chowder, maybe it will help soothe my soul
Thank you

Isn't the fact that the West, from Israel to NATO, cannot defeat any of its monstrous, yet weak and pathetic enemies, a failure of foreign policy experts?
There was talk of the shifting Overton Window, but not much analysis of what the shift would mean and how things would break.
Are you saying NATO being unable to defeat any of its monstrous and laughably weak enemies is not a reflection on our foreign policy experts?
So North Korea has been defeated?
Taliban have been defeated?
Iran has been defeated?
Russia has been defeated?
I guess when our foreign policy experts can't win any wars, what else can they do but downplay endless acts of war?
In a democracy we are responsible for who is elected, even if we all donated and volunteered etc… the point is we are responsible… and now we need to figure out how to mitigate the harm and do better going forward…
Experts should be explaining this stuff, but themselves don't even know.
The Pres is elected by electors.
Congressmen by popular vote from respective state.
SCOTUS by appointment via Congress.
All of this is by design and is broken by states binding electors.
Unfortunately, we do not have any mainstream experts in the field of politics today who have the slightest idea about this stuff. It's a field of gossip columnists for political celebs.
That's how we got a 2nd Trump term.
Not voters.
As many will soon discover, not doing any of the above is much harder.
I fully expect that they’ll eventually get around to dismantling and melting down all of the wind turbines, to “boost aluminum production.”
It was a good read.
But thanks for participating!!
