The Ohio River had flooded more than 70% of Louisville and Bourke-White photographed the aftermath from makeshift rafts. This was the most striking image, a juxtaposition which needs no explanation. It became one of her most well known photographs.
Thanks for context. I've never seen this before. There's so many ways this can go. Black and White X2. My grandfather being the fedora wearing driver as a second generation Italian immigrant, absorbing the "American Way" of being able to drive right through it all unseeing, dog's ears all akimbo.
