I get that I'm immune to this particular brand of cowardice, but is there any way the purported dangers of illegal immigration could be worse than a government disappearing people to foreign labor camps without a trial?

Honestly, I have never truly understood the “illegal immigration is a serious problem” thing. Smarter news outlets seemed to acknowledge the “problem” but I never heard the reasoning behind it explained beyond batshit race-baiting political commercials about some white woman getting beaten to death
Yes, though now that I’m a relatively rural Wisconsinite I have shifted my hatred from the voters themselves to the conservative media that brainwashed them. I’d say about half the people who vote R here are actual bad people. The rest are mostly just dumb and regurgitate what they saw on Fox News
I’m not trying to make excuses for anyone, but a lot of people are just like… impressionable, think they’re good, don’t understand what they’re talking about. Not “good people” but nothing wrong with them in a vacuum.
Yes. A naïve view of complex issues tends to be incorrect. It's hard to grasp what everyone's so worked up about when you imagine society is like a Richard Scary book.
I think especially here in Wisconsin I just did not understand how it became such a centered political issue. I find it hard to believe that the effects of illegal immigration have literally any negative effect on the lives of basically any Wisconsinites
I think there's a degree to which low-information voters hear about illegal activity and think somebody should do something about it, probably failing to recognize that the *government* doing illegal shit is many thousands times worse.
