I first stumbled into Cantharellus cinnabarinus (Cinnabar Chanterelles) for the first time ever on a hike in CT in summer 2020. It looked like a fairy had sprinkled the forest floor, the color is shocking! I also assumed they’d be poisonous. No cell reception but I took pics and researched later.

Sent them to my uncle who’s been an amateur forager in Maine for about 20 years and is friend with a legit mycologist. They confirmed my find. I’ve since returned to the spot and harvested some. My little secret magic patch 🧡
