"A collective investment of around $133 billion is expected to create more than 109,000 American jobs, much of it at battery factories across the South and Midwest, according to data from the Center for Automotive Research."

There is nothing better to hear than a person tying their livelihood to a green job. Finally we have reached economic incentives. This is the turn in the hockey stick growth curve! Thanks for sharing
There are many climate activists that don’t believe in electric vehicles as a climate solution, and prefer electric trains and electric buses and electric trams and electric bikes and electric planes and electric ships.
Technically all those others are electric vehicles too ;)
Also there’s a difference between saying “plans for energy transition in transport are currently over-reliant on electric cars, which should also be lighter and safer” and saying “electric cars are not an essential part of energy transition”
Vehicles can indeed be any of those but EVs is not a standard term for electric trains or electric buses or electric ships or electric planes. It is the standard term used for electric cars.
Meanwhile, by every statistic from every source, EV sales in the US are falling such that every auto maker has scaled back production/deliveries and GM has exited the market. They will scale back further if the tax credit expires on schedule in 2025.
My 2 cents is the credit will not fully go away. Too many voters in states with battery plants. It may be modified to remove the lease option so they can say they did something but killing these jobs is GOP suicide.

Townsend said she doesn’t believe in electric vehicles, but Ford’s multibillion-dollar investment gives her confidence the job will last.
Like what does “not believe in” mean in this context?

These plants may become white elephants.
Hybrids will still dominate
just my 2 cents
