Usually the government completes paperwork before Troops are deployed. Hegseth did nothing. When guardsman are deployed, some employers make up the difference in guard pay and regular pay, and keep company benefits in place for 6 months. But, most employers do not do that.

Not providing accommodations for National Guardsmen deployed as a political stunt is tantamount to spitting in their faces too

To quell No Kings protests, Trump and Stephen Miller are deploying the Guard in six Democratic-governed cities. Meanwhile Gov Abbott announced he was deploying his state's National Guard ahead of planned protests.
MSNBC just disclosed that ICE pulled drones and Black Hawks from the border to serve in LA.
They don't have enough legit resources to accommodate what is going on and they don't take care of those there.
