That fact that we live in a world where after all the reflections on 20th century history we live in a world where people who speak out against genocide face attacks and threats against their life is a terrifying case in point for the failure of humanity as a species. We are doomed!

To me it shows that talking about WWII fails to make us smarter. Apparently we should talk about tyrannie in the abstract or use other examples, using Germany in the 1930s and '40s as the central object of interest somehow makes us dumber.

The fact is in the US and probably other countries they don't teach us the true history of either of the great wars. How the ussr sacrificed more lives & won the war. How the us bombed Japan even though the war was over. So many lies to make the us seem superior when the nz models after the US.

I am happy you are not in charge of the history curriculum in schools. The war was in no way over before the bombs fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The USSR lost a horrific number of people in the war but would not have prevailed if not for the help from the other allies in the time after June 1941

It is also worth mentioning that the USSR was a defacto ally of Germany up until the very day of being invaded.
