This guy created a tool to make it easy to pull up a pre-Musk/Trump version of various federal government websites.

The genius is how simple it is: He just registered "govwayback.com" and then created subdomains which redirect to pre-1/20/25 Wayback Machine versions.

So for NASA, instead of https://NASA.gov you enter https://NASA.govwayback.com.

This overlaps heavily with what some of my colleagues & I have been doing, although my indexes include direct links to *every* public-facing page of these sites, which is helpful since some are extremely obscure/difficult to find.

Also because as awesome as the Wayback Machine versions are, oftentimes some of the navigation links within their archives are broken due to having broken images, weird code, etc.

The tools are complementary to each other, basically.

The only challenge with the Wayback machine is that the ultimate owner of the data can request that the data be taken down.

Of course Musk/Trump will try to go after them regardless.

Absolutely agreed, but I bet that Musk/Trump will likely demand takedown. Would be good if states began to harvest this data as well, and then made it publicly available. Perhaps several states join a pact to harvest, post, and maintain a collection of past and ongoing Fed data.
