Does it matter if the bulk of those medicaid recipients either voted D or didn't find it worthwhile to vote at all (they work low paying jobs)? In our extremely polarized times, when districts are Gerrymandered so exquisitely, politicians can safely ignore huge swaths of their districts. Alas.

I lived in that district until last year. It is severely gerrymandered. I'm now in the new district, LA-6. Go to any Wal-Mart in LA-4 & you'll see just how unhealthy a lot of his constituents are. They depend on medicaid but will happily vote for the party who want to take it away.
