But that only works if he’s 2nd on the penultimate ballot. 40% have Cuomo, Lander and 40% have Mamdani, Lander and 20% have Lander, Mamdani (or Lander, Cuomo), then Lander is eliminated. Doesn’t matter that he would’ve won a 1-on-1 60%-40%. He’s gotta pull better than 25% in a 3-way to have a chance

Just like with Eric Adams it's Black voters giving Cuomo a big lead. It's no surprise that Cuomo is getting endorsements from Bill Clinton and Clyburn. It's an appeal to Black voters in NYC.
