I had a babysitter that would microwave an entire packet of bacon at our house every time she babysat. She would then pack it up to take home. The smell would linger for hours

First up is the aptly named "Cook food in a microwave oven", published by Ica bokförlag in 1988 (third printing, originally from 1984). The authors are Sonja Eriksson from Electrolux test kitchen, anf Gunnel Friblad from ICA test kitchen.

I think it's fish in the example dish on the cover.

We start with a few pages of what a microwave oven is and how to use it: the first sentence is literally "All around us there are electromagnetic waves", if you wondered what level the description is.

We get to learn that the microwave oven has a lot of advantages: it's comfortable, it cooks nutritional and low calori-food, it's quick (put a pin in that), and it's economic.

Sure, there are some things you can't do in it, like bread or giving the food colour, but clearly microwaves are the future

Okey, so the main difference between conventional cooking and microwave cooking is how you heat the food, as it "doesn't just heat the exterior, but penetrates deep into the food."

Not sure I completely agree with that, but I'm sure they know best.

Past the introduction we have some tips and tricks, easy quick things you can do in your microwave like soften your ice cream or dry some herbs.

We're off to actual recipes and we are starting strong with sandwiches. And when I say strong I of course mean sandwiches with curryclams: put clams on sandwiches; mix cream, curry, and cheese; put the mixture on the clams and microwave on full effect for 1.5-2.5 minutes.
