The Chair of the House Appropriations Committee being in memory care for 6 months before the press caught on doesn’t exactly give one a lot of confidence.

The national press is very busy reporting vibes and endlessly rehashing their stale opinions. They can hardly be expected to report on relevant political facts.
Or do any research or actual journalism!!! They are commentators just like 99% of the people on social media. It’s how George Santos won his seat. Not one word about his lies until after he was sworn in.
Because it required actual reporting. Why go outside and hunt someone down when you can stay home and write a story from your bedroom copied from another outlet? Biden is old stories write themselves. No expense report needed.
Well I guess it's a good thing we definitely don't have any Republicans in record during the last six months talking about how anyone with dementia should resign from office
It's total bullshit is what it is. Who else gets to skip work for six months without getting fired?
People making policies live in a fantasy land completely divorced from reality. How on earth can they make policies about things that they are clueless about?
True. And how about the committee, her constituents, the rest of the Rs in the house, her staff and her family? One giant coverup, and more theft from taxpayers. The Grifting Oligarchy Party needs to be put to bed.
Every job on the planet has prerequisites and requirements except the jobs that are most crucial to the existence of our free society and I think we may want to fix that.
The whole story sounds like bullshit. A lot of retirement homes have memory care units, Granger was in DC last month, she stepped down from Appropriations some time ago and is set to retire, so she shut down her TX office
I think it’s clear she wasn’t missing in the legal sense; I’m sure her family knew where she was. But her absenteeism is definitely concerning. Her constituents have lacked representation for months, and there has been no transparency. There’s no excuse for not voting since July.
That “the whole story sounds like bullshit.” The “missing” framing is sensationalist, but it’s a real problem that she just stopped doing her job due to incapacity when she should have resigned.
I would say the stepping down in April was the first clue something was wrong. No one gives up the chair of a powerful committee like that without cause!
Not great for the press, but why didn’t anyone IN Congress talk about this? They for sure noticed and probably could guess what was happening. Dems felt it would hurt Biden to make it an issue? GOPers didn’t want to embarrass the party? Just seems like everyone wanted to keep this quiet.
Feinsteins daughter had a poa on her personal affairs while she was still serving in the senate. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Now these staff members just carried on?! While this woman was in memory care? For 6 months? Wtf
Keep in mind that this was the same time period where folks were demanding Biden not just drop out of the race but resign because he was somehow so compromised that he was a president in absentia. It's horrible that the Congresswoman was taken advantage like this, but man, the projection...
