Starting an impressions thread for movies and TV I watch this year. Well, sort of. Didn't watch much in January and don't remember what I did, so we're starting with February

The Gef story is a weird piece of folklore, and I don't think the writers knew what to do with it. Left out the best parts of the real story, Fodor was underdeveloped, ends on what it thinks is a profound note that's just really empty
2. Wuthering Heights (1939) - Moody and evocative, and I respect the choice to cut half the novel out and roll credits after Cathy dies, even if I don't exactly like the choice
Still, in terms of Questionable Classic Adaptations, at least it doesn't completely alter the entire point like Great Expectations does or give Orson Welles a role like in Jane Eyre
3. The Ghost and Mrs Muir (1947). Sweet and sad tale of two souls defying convention and finding each other after death. Slightly overdone at times, but thoroughly enjoyed it
4. Conclave (2024) All that tension and mystery gets resolved far too easily, and it ends with a statement that, on the Scale of Profoundness, is roughly equal to Walmart putting a rainbow flag in a tweet during June
