The UK pays relativly low prices for drugs thanks in part to NICE. Simply manufacturing them here won't save money as its a international market - and we aren't the cheapest at 'making stuff'. On shouring manufacturing has its advantages, but on pure cost, not cheaper
Whether a new state-owned R&D pharma facility could develop newer stuff is a question for experts.
