The issue is enough money to properly compensate writers for re-printing their work. Also clicks don’t necessarily translate into revenue, not yet anyway

In this case it’s not reprinting the work, it’s linking to it, and each of the included publications have to opt in. Writers should absolutely be compensated for their work; hopefully this helps to draw reader attention and $$.

No? A reprint would be, I take your story and copy/paste it onto my website, depriving you of traffic. A link sends traffic to your website to read the story, and maybe others. If I linked to your story here on Bluesky, would you call that a reprint?

it seems so simple to just have a few people pulling stories in and organizing them and linking them out to their sources? benefits the writers, the pubs they write in, and the reader who can find articles in one place?

It’s not in my wheelhouse to know how simple it is, but yeah I love @unrigged.bsky.social and use it daily. They make it so easy for me to get news, find indie pubs to support, etc.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Clicked on West and it's just a bunch of Alberta headlines with the odd SK mixed in. Unfortunately, this seemingly interesting news aggregator is mostly useless to us BCers.
