Exactly. They have no interest in anyone’s health, but rather their bottom line. In fact, they go out of their way to prevent physicians doing their jobs.
I work for a medical equipment company. We are a provider. Your doctor is a provider. The x-ray you needed was from a provider. The insurance company is only is a middle man that has control of what level of care you get. That's it. They are a gatekeeper of the worst kind.
Insurance companies provide very little to the consumer while making billions of dollars. They get away with it by having Congress in their pockets. Congress gets elected by their constituents to represent the oligarchs interests.
An assumption is being made that they provide healthcare, which as stated is wrong. They are INSURANCE providers. Regardless, we despise their for-profit tactics even though they are a business necessitated by the government’s lack of action.
I've never heard them called "providers." I've only heard them called "payers." In the healthcare industry, providers are indeed those who provide the care.
They're not called providers. My doctor is a provider. If you want to get healthcare fixed, then get off your congressional asses and pass some legislation. Talk is cheap.
unless you're on full coverage medicaid. people on full coverage medicaid have much better healthcare than most people making under 50k would get through their job and so on.
this is how it should be the the entire nation.
as of now, the only way to access it is to live way below the poverty mark.
Insurance companies aren't the entities called "providers"; it's the individual practices and facilities who provide healthcare to an insurance company's members that are called providers.
I keep seeing this and don’t believe AOC would say it, it’s just misinformed. In the industry insurance companies are “payers” and hospitals, doctors, labs, nurses etc are the “providers”. There’s a sh^t ton to be pissed about, this isn’t one of them.
Why is Nancy Pelosi (allegedly) trying to block this woman? AOC epitomizes the type of politician the Democratic party needs going forward. Time for the old guard to retire…
In the UK we have national health. All free. 14 years of conservatives in government almost destroyed it but still I prefer our system. UK Politicians close to Trump are telling us we need an insurance system like the US.
It really depends what ins plan you pick, I am on Medicare and my supplemental is almost $300 a month, But it covers everything and anything, Have not received a bill from my hospital , cardiologist, and primary care provider in over 8 years.
Seems like they are just a 'middle-man' who are killing and robbing people in Usa. I can't see them any other way and I don't understand why it's legal, because it should not be. Even mafia, real criminals treat people better than those companies.
I’ve never heard insurance companies referred to as “providers,” but if so, it certainly is not accurate. Rather, they are the dictators dictating how healthcare should be delivered, and they’re the deniers of access to care.
The actual business model of every insurance company is to collect premiums and NOT pay claims. The fact that they have been allowed to present themselves as some beneficial entity is absurd.
The benefit of insurance is the pooled payments of individuals, most of whom will not have a large medical expense, to cover individuals who do. That protection from financial disaster is the service.
Capitalistic greed is subverting this benefit of insurance. We need Medicare for All badly.

The markets should be regulated to force more componentization and competition. Insurance companies should just… provide insurance.

Speaking as an actual medical provider
They are not providers, they are preventers.
Pelosi had her time, she did some very good stuff. But the time we are in now, we need AOCs and Jasmine Crocketts.

Again - the #1 problem with American healthcare is the exorbitant cost of the services provided.
