Someone named Mrdn (we don’t know the vowels) took the time to chisel his name into a rock face in the middle of the desert while accompanying king Nabonidus “in the waterless wilderness”.

He is saying “I was here and so was the Babylonian king” in a local script. I think that’s incredible.

Moudhy is the specialist in the field, not me, but I assume there are markers in that sentence (specifically the form of the word "servant") that indicate it was a guy writing it. In most languages, nouns are not gender-neutral.
