Hmm. I think you have Bluesky and Mastodon backwards. Austin was much more slick than Portland, and Portland feels much more DIY.

Portland in 1994 was pretty grungy (my wife lived here, but I didn't, I'll admit). Probably bluesky isn't really either of the cities c. 1994. :)
