The Bill is an abhorrent attack on the foundation of Aotearoa. It seeks to erode the agreement that secured a partnership between the Crown and tangata whenua. It is incoherent and disconnected from the reality of a nation that wants to heal and redress the injustices of past treaty violations.

It deliberately ignores the massive past wrong found by the crown to Māori and that the purpose of the Tribunal is to try and redress those wrongs. Redress should not be something we aim to get over and done with quickly, it's something we need to do over many generations.

David Seymour mentioned the principle of redress in his Cabinet Paper, but it is not one of his three “principles” in the Bill. As you say, the Bill is a shallow and unconscionable political stunt.
