What I find funny, is that people defend this. Like I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want the call to be right. They’ll use excuses like “the Bills did nothing on the final drive” like it has anything to do with this play being called incorrectly.
Based off the spot of the 1st & 10 on that set of downs (in which the tip of the ball was completely across the 50), he would have had to get the ball completely across the 40. Which it is not clear that he does this.
Unfortunate that the ball was in his right hand instead of his left.
The point is to get the call right. Whether he got the first down or not, it’s if the call is right. And even based off of your posts, you don’t know that he didn’t make it. You’re assuming just like the people are assuming he got it.
The problem is, that we keep having this discussion every year.
So put chips in the ball. Or set up hundreds of cameras to track every inch of the field like tennis.
If your point is, it is dumb for a multi-billion dollar organization to use sticks and chains and human perception to measure the most fundamental aspect of the game.
You think that’s dumb? I’m a Panthers fan and there was a play this year where Thielen seemed to have scored a TD in the back of the end zone, but the ref said no catch. The review booth had one camera for the end zone. ONE. A fan video the next day showed he had both feet in for a touchdown.
But I disagree that you cannot tell in the replays in this instance.
You can tell in certain angles where the ball is in relation to Allen's body. And in the sideline angle on the left, you have a clear view of where his body gets in relation to the first down (just across the 40)
The NFL should have fiscal investigations into all the refs. See what kind of car they drive, house value, how many houses, SOME of those refs are on the take.
The NFL is just recovering from the bottom they hit with the kneeling idiocy. They need to get a grip on this, or people will stop watching
They were ahead... apparently they were making the plays. So the refs had to make an effed up call to save the Chiefs. If the correct call had been made, Allen would have taken them to the Superbowl.
Why isn’t the practice to set the ball at the farther spot? One guy seeing “this is as far as it went” doesn’t mean the other couldn’t have seen it go farther. This seems obvious.
They should probably start putting that sky cam directly over the line of scrimmage instead of in the backfield on short down plays.
Sacrifice that cinematic shot of breaking the huddle before a big moment for actually getting a definitive shot of what happens but hey, what do I know..
Here’s one: why are all of the camera angles at ground level? Not a single camera can be placed 10 feet up and angles down so Chris Jones isn’t blocking the view?
Because the cameras are for tv, not making a decision for replay! But obviously that doesn't actually solve the issue in general, but would for that play in particular!
I mean, give it to them; they're still going to lose. Couldn't pressure Mahomes, couldn't account for his mobility, got gashed between the tackles, were fighting for first downs every drive. KC was better.

I agree...

Any other things about football you need explained?
Come on, I know you can get there without me telling you.
The two linesman each ran in half a yard difference from each other.
No way the Bills win if they converted this and scored to go up 8 points with the momentum.
