yep this feels very much like the hollywood version of Annihilation: theyre alien copies with some memories or aspects. i was really wondering why animators went through trouble of making that room cold with condensing breath but it was to provide this visual clue imo

Going back to it, the hexcore literally doedsexactly what the void does. It attaches to something and consumes it, creating a void monster out of it. It fucked up with skye (thats why she turned into dust) but since it was with viktor for a while its was able to recreate him.
