Friendly reminder to use your library card. Even if you donβt have time to read, rent a free audio book to keep them going. If you donβt already have one, get a library card. π

Wanted to throw out there: please only borrow books you plan to listen to! Some borrowing models limit how many checkouts a title has. I donβt want people to think itβs the equivalent of how playing but not watching a YouTube video can directly benefit creators. But yes! Support your library!!
Check out audio books on the library systems like hoopla and Libby. Free listens on your phone or device as a regular check out just like we used to check out books. I usually have 2 or 3 audiobooks checked out from my current favorite series so I am never without a listen.
Yes, I know you BORROW books. And RENT requires money.I often stream of conscience write and hit send. Keep rolling. No need to stop and correct me on every skeet. I promise there are PLENTY of errors and mistakes in my skeets. πMaybe, check your controlling nature and need to correct strangers.
Libraries get funding based on their members. If you are near a libraryβ¦get a card whether you borrow or not. It shows the importance of the library for that community.
One last thing: I work at a library, and at least at my library people need an active form of ID (passport, driver's license, or state ID, with correct address or mail with correct address. Remember to bring these things for ease of signing up for a card.
Borrowing books is a great idea, but libraries offer so much more than books. Dvds, cds, videogames, meeting rooms, affordable copying and faxing, computers, and one of the last third spaces. Using the library in any capacity helps the library by driving up the patron numbers.
Yes, me too. I used Hoopla for when I walk or want hands free time to clean, etc. They are very handy. And then I use electronic books for reading in my down time. Itβs a win-win.
Rent is what you do from Blockbuster or your landlord. Borrow is what you do from a public institution, or a close friend. Otherwise an excellent reminder. If you don't have time to read: hugs, that sounds awful.
Thanks to free play group programs, I am in my local library at least twice a week with my daughter. We get books every time! We are working towards 1000 books before kindergarten! I love our library, librarians, and all the friends we have made by going!
I have Glen Eira, Port Philip, and Bayside (one for walking to, one for Hoopla, and one for Libby), and another WAY out in whoop whoop where I used to live, a small library that serviced the entire shire.
I use the apps Libby and Hoopla. They let you check out audiobooks and books from your local library on your phone. All you have to do is input your library card number. My local library also lets you sign up for a card online so that might be an option at your local libraryβs website. π
My kids are teens and we love our local library. The director and staff are awesome. Very active calendar, cool things to do and see, quiet places to hangout and read, they have DVDs, magazines, books and even puppets you can borrow.

To use my apps, I need 4 library cards just from around my area.
I live in one, but surrounded by 4 or 5 others within 15-20 minute walk.
