I’m was commenting on this 51st state talk, and an economic union as the legal version of that nonsense. It was only ever about the two countries – not a North American union. The ability to create a union only exists as much as the validity of its sovereignty does, which is a whole separate thread.

Ya so, I could have phrased this better. My point, in sum: a HYPOTHETICAL union between our countries, however welcome, is only LEGALLY possible via a supranational economic union. It’s crazy to jump straight to 51st state subjugation talk instead of proposing a legal, equally unwelcome, option.

Because you can't have an economic union with people who you fundamentally can not trust. Integrating further with the US is nonsensical. We shouldn't even have a free trade agreement because they clearly won't hold up their end of the deal.

Also, our laws + regulations are clearly diverging. They are slashing + burning everything down. There is increasingly no common ground, no rule of law. We want regulations + stds that keep us safe + protect consumers + our environment. They want a free-for-all. Those are irreconcilable differences.
