The evangelical movement was looking for public $ and Bush and his base got some fight points with the left by demanding X% of revenue to go to religious groups. Now that same religious base is less interested in the legitimacy of getting public $ and more driven by prosperity bible stuff.

This is exactly why I abandoned GOP after 2000. They've been playing the long game strategy for decades. Now there's a WH planned taskforce against Anti-Christian bias. They mean anyone who isn't the 'right' kind of Christian. Be ready to convert to evangelism in the New Gilead.

You're one of a few bringing light to decades long religious strategy in politics. Republicans voters have been only promoting evangelicals from local to state to federal. Evangelists do not believe other Christian religions are Christian enough. I thought we survived 45 first term. This is worse.

I was incredibly young, new to politics, and foolishly voted for Reagan's 2nd term mainly to antagonize my very liberal adoptive parents. I believe that was the first time they let 17-yr olds vote if they turned 18 during inauguration year. My biggest regrets were my Republican voting years.
