in terms of marches i have seen how differently right wing gangs act when 5% or so of a crowd is armed and it is a meaningful difference

in terms of a movement, we are Americans. If you do not struggle with suicidal ideation and have the time and resources to train I think you should be armed

So if you can get at least 5% of a crowd to embrace self defense, you're more or less good? That makes things seem much less hopeless.

I sadly don't have the time to train as I have a fair amount on my plate at this stage of my life.

oh God I didn't say more or less good very bad things still happen but in events I have witnessed it does tend to alter the calculus of vigilantes

I'm just trying to figure out ways to break this mess into smaller chunks and I'm curious to see how manageable encouraging enough people to adopt self defense is. What amount is enough? What is the best way to convince people, preferably many people at once?
