And what I get from reading this? Instead of issuing razor-sharp criticism while she was still there? She used a kiddie scissors (I always have found her to be milquetoast, and quite both sidesey). She only left when they gave her no choice. Press needs to get braver, very quickly.

It could also be the case that the documentary doesn't go into any depth about--or maybe doesn't even address--the paper's Bezos era. (I haven't seen it, so I have no idea.) It would still serve for trumpeting the paper's reputation.

They can't afford it. Aside from its stars, WaPo is extremely miserly and has taken advantage of the fact that there are fewer and fewer competing outlets for its non-famous journalists to jump ship to hold down wages and keep people captive.
