Can’t help but think of Alex Toth every time I watch Anthony Mann’s wild “Reign Of Terror (aka Black Book”). Shot by the great John Alton it evokes the same dynamic compositions, inky blacks and silhouettes and fast paced action that was in some of Toth’s best work.
