Honestly some of the books with below average ratings on Goodreads have been some of my faves ?? Love my “weird girl” fiction it’s honestly some of the best, I need to read more this year 🖤 #booksky

Honestly same, alot of the books I read are rated low and I love them.
Don't follow everyone's opinion, find out for yourself...what's the saying "another person's rubbish, another person's treasure" or something like that
I feel like this is why people shouldn't leave low reviews if the book just ended up not being their style of book. The reviews should of course be honest, but I don't think 2 Stars is fair if a book genre just isn't fitting.
I don't know what you're into exactly, but this book wasn't highly rated, and I loved it! It was weird and unexpected. I'm not saying it's the book for you, but it's it's worth checking out!
All the books by Emily Austin are amazing! Never related so much to a protagonist lol. Earthlings is great too , Convenience store woman by same author is 👍
Goodreads scores are wholly unhelpful and often downright stupefying if you actually engage with literature. It’s like watching an infant grab at a block of cheese when there’s a check for fifty million dollars right next to it.
I’ve let Goodreads dictate what I’ve read for too long. There’s nothing wrong with Goodreads and they are a great resource. And tracking what I’ve read is really nice. But I need to take the ratings with a bigger grain of salt and just read what I want to.
I would recomend "How to sell a haunted house", "Someone you can build a nest in", and "Assistant to the villian". The first two are horror ish and the last two have some romance.
You might like "Legends and Lattes" which is a fantasy themed slice of life with some romance.

Just because it’s not someone else’s thing doesn’t mean it doesn’t scratch the itch for a particular niche of people just right.☺️
And considering how homogeneous a lot of things are getting it’s refreshing.
-Earthlings Sayaka Murata
-Her Body and Other Parties Carmen Maria Machado
-The Vegetarian Han Kang
I also try and read a few of the low ratings and a few in the mid-range to get a better idea.
The ones I don't understand: "this book was good, fun,... I enjoyed it. 3 stars". Sometimes even 2 stars.
Why?!
