Nothing makes me happier than when people discover their love for reading again, everybody that can read, should. Itβs so good for your brain! Also, please support your local library π«Άβ¨π

I was voracious as a child but I hadn't read in several months, due to real life, and - frankly - social media usage. I recently quit most SM and began 'Traces of Two Pasts' (Final Fantasy) and I'm loving it. I feel more relaxed, more creative and less troubled in general. I forgot how good it felt
I wasn't much into reading as a kid but I find it more enjoyable as an adult. It takes me a couple weeks to read a 400 page novel. Currently reading Out by Natsuo Kirino.
Sarah, I've been reading for over seventy years. Most of the guys I associate with are readers too. We worship at the same library. Old men who look like they should be resting quietly somewhere are doing a lot of good things with their money.
I suffer from dyslexia but really want books over audio. Haven't found a compatible source (not demanding market, just a statement of issue) but one of my favorite series growing up was Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan. (Movie was atrocious)
Have you checked with your local library? Most libraries have great audiobook collections. And theyβre growing every month. Also, you could ask them to get a particular title if they donβt already have it.
I have tried ebooks and e-readers but I run into the same issues. I'll have to reread sections multiple times and my kinesthetic mind doesn't cooperate. But I love actual reading, even tried having an actual person read like story time. Can't find a medium π
I'm super interested in computer hardware and follow professor Messer on YouTube and even took notes but I need actual text and video, like a lab class. Next is fictional fantasy.
I used to go to the warrensburg library and tried but run into the same replay. Due to my disability I have memory detriments. That's why I tried having an actual person read along. My memory is good with movies/shows but reading is a struggle π it's disheartening. But I love scholastic books
That does sound tough π’ During covid I recall some libraries offered a service where people could call up and have a librarian read a bedtime story to a child over the phone. This might be an idea you could take to your local library? I can see library volunteers reading aloud to people in person.
Hello Sarah, I came across this post. Do you have a recommendation on an exciting fantasy series such as Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings or My Vampire System?
Iβm actually not a huge fantasy reader but Ive been trying to get back into that genre for quite some time! π₯Ί Iβm planning on reading the Silmarillion this year if you are a LOTR fan
I was in the worst reading slump of my life for 5 years, and I finally crawled my way back out last summer! Now Iβm reading more than ever and loving every minute of it!
Aww omg Iβm so happy for you π₯Ί this was steadily since 2020 but the past couple of years have been amazing for me since I was diagnosed with ADHD (finally!) and medicated
I cannot advocate enough for supporting local libraries. Even if you aren't an avid reader, most libraries allow you to rent movies, offer a quiet place to study, or have other activities going on.
I used to be an avid reader. Several books a week kind of reader. Then depression hit me. For over 10 years I didn't touch a single book. January my husband passed away and for the first time I reached for a book again
to keep my mind from spiraling. I just finished my 3rd book. It may not be at the same level any more but I'm rediscovering reading books and am enjoying myself. Even got a library card so I can use Libby.
Iβm trying but covid/lockdown totally ruined my ability to focus anymore. I can barely make it through a chapter or two before I just canβt anymore.
And if you know someone who canβt read, suggest they engage the services of the many free adult literacy programs in their city or town. Theyβre everywhere!
I used to be such a bookworm and when I came home from school I would take a book and disappear into another world. My mother would some times even 'kick' me out to catch some sunlight and fresh air. π That was before internet, before Netflix, before I had a game-PC of my own. So many distractions!
An easy way to sneak in a book is to listen to an audiobook on your commute (or while youβre doing chores/out for a walk). It still counts as reading. Trust me, Iβm a librarian π
