BOOK #11, 2025
THE BRIDE, Vonda McIntyre, 1985
Fairly good novelization of weaker source material. Would be more successful if it was expanded beyond the constraints of the script to allow its themes to breathe.

SYCAMORE, Ian Rogers (2024)
Terrifically entertaining mystery in the ‘paranormal detective’ genre (a personal fave of mine). Ian Rogers is one of the best Canadian genre storytellers out there. I hope to visit his Black Lands again soon.

THE TWISTED ONES, T. Kingfisher (2019)
Dark, atmospheric, and (yes) twisted horror tale of dark forests, obscure journals, freaky-deaky monsters of wire & bone, & one adorable hound. A less problematic, more accessible Lovecraftian cosmic horror. Also, a great deal of fun.

X-MEN 2, Chris Claremont (2003)
Effective adaptation of a defining film in the superhero genre. Expands the narrative nicely, although the abundance of characters hinders its success. Weirdly, Wolverine’s physicality is more in line with the comic-book, i.e. he’s short. #booksky 💙📚
