I was out of work from August to December. The only thing I can say is that the search process is horrible, but it does end.

I went with the quantity over quality approach. I focused on LinkedIn and Dice, but had the most luck for finding quality openings on LinkedIn. I think I got responses from 5% of the submissions I made. My goal was to apply to at least one job ever weekday. I was spending about two hours a day.

Also the Massachusetts state government has a job board that employers in the state can and do use, so it’s a decent resource.
