Nothing to do with the merits of the case. I think it's linked to an agreement between FFR and the Top14, where a list of nominated "premium players" could be retained for the national side during the 6N and not released to club duty. Though Ntamack wasn't on the retention list, apparently. 🤷‍♂️

But not by a specific player release agreement, which was needed in France because the clubs are the player's employer, and there's always friction between them and the FFR.

There's no contractual reason for the IRFU to retain them at camp, which is the crux I think.

But it's also the default. The exception was the Top14 match being disallowed, rather than the URC match included.

But the fact that they went to 20 minute reds without extending the ban lengths of madness to me.

That's bullshit. Premium players are decided on the number of games they played for the national team the previous year, so Ntamack isn't a premium player this year given he didn't play a single international game last year.

It also doesn't factor on them being released during the 6N pause but on how many game they can play for their club during the year and how much money they can go over the salary cap to replace them when they are on national duty.

it's also an internal agreement that shouldn't be a factor in those decisions. France got fucked over this decision and after this fucking joke it's clear there is no equality in the decision making of this "discipline" commission.
