The Bond - Moneypenny flirtation scenes in the old films are charming. But I'm fucked if I want to hear about her backstory or her other romantic interests.

She's not supposed to be a superspy like him, she's a stand-in for the audience, a normal person who Bond likes more than the bigwigs.

Bringing Bond characters into other IP worlds could be fun or disastrous. Maybe this could be the most creatively useful thing: being able to make a Zorro or Harry Palmer show/film with Bond elements without the Bond people suing.

I suggested something similar the other day. Bond movies as normal, and then spinoff TV shows (like James Bond Jr or Felix).

But it'll probably be a Bond TV series to try to make people subscribe to Amazon. Reacher or Tom Clancy with a Brit.

Q. slightly futuristic story where they do high tech investigations and Bond is an incidental character who comes in on special occasions.... go a bit Charlie Brooker on it and make the technology fairly dystopian.

Agree on TV. In fairness to them, Jack Ryan & Reacher are enjoyable shows, good conversions from film to TV show projects, & deliver what's expected within the confines of their own worlds.

If they can do that with Bond, dialing the movie over-the-top-ness down a few notches, it could work out.
