Biting sarcasm in the sheets, disaffected irony in the streets. This is what we were told was to be a grown-up as young adults in the 90s. Whenever some of us objected we were told we didn't get it/didn't belong/get over it. I've been nursing a theory about this for decades, via John Hughes films.

when I think about all the "comedies" and sit"coms" and most rom"coms" that were popular when I was a kid/teen/young adult, we were ALL trained to be obnoxious and aggressive, I've been trying to de-condition myself from "biting sarcasm is always funny & good for human interaction"
