Dunno, for me that was another "Can see me doing this" moment. He sees her as a threat to Jesse, and he....hesitates. Competing impulses lock him up, and then the decision is out of his hands. Circumstances rule.

For me, this didn't make him a villain per se, any more than his killing of Krazy-8.
