All the middle school kids are wearing them. It’s hilariously. At least a few actually know what it means. Same for the Grateful Dead sweatshirts sweatshirts.
There's been several statements over the years of what Kurt Cobain was, and I'll admit hyper-capitalist isn't one I've seen. But, I believe Kurt wouldn't be pissed that he has merchandise.
After all didn't he want to be as big as the Beatles? Did he not achieve that?
Regardless, my intention wasn't to say he was a hyper-capitalist but more along the lines of his statements on the earnings of an artist.
It's likely that Kurt seeing ticket prices and merch sales these days would complain about how he wasn't seeing enough of the earnings for the price.
Back then musicians got rich on music sales! Everyone in Nirvana made enough from the sales of Nevermind to sustain their bloodline for centuries. It was the CD/cassette era and the MP3 hadn’t been invented. Kurt was obscenely wealthy, but was angry when Courtney Love spent their money.
