This is MvC2 we're talking about. I used to work at a retro game store and had so many people ask about a copy of MvC2 who obviously had no intent on playing the game in any serious manner. The main thing that deterred them was price. Now they can get that game regardless of console.
What does playing online have to do with selling copies? Did you think this post through as you were typing it? Are you aware that maybe people want to play games even not online?
I mean you do know fighting games live and die by their online playerbases, right? Unless you just solely stick to fighting CPUs or doing couch co-op, most of your time spent in a fighting game is duking it out with others online.
Ok, but my initial post was about selling copies, and we have sales data that shoes xbox versions don't sell. Xbox players are conditioned to not buy games. Switch also just has a larger user base. XBox is a distant last place. I'd bet money Switch online would be more active.
Maybe Capcom as a multi-billion dollar company did some marketing research how their games sell on xbox and whether the port would be profitable or not? Rather than basing off some random internet person's opinion that people don't buy games on xbox.
I main Steam and Switch. Haven’t tried this on Switch yet but to this day its easy to find a match on Street Fighter 30th Anniversary. Steam is absolutely dead. Even on week one Steam was slow. Similar experience with Capcom Collection 1. PS4 was about the same # players as Switch when I had a PS4
For sure, Fightcade is the best. There are a lot of regulars there you can get familiar with and learn from. However when its a game I’m not experienced in I like to play on the regular platforms first. They usually have a more balanced player field.
