It's like Final Fantasy, they're all different experiences. The "Special" revisions benefit from rebalancing based on years of feedback, but the regular (only) edition of 5 is definitely a newer looking game right out of the gate. They're all good, honestly.

I would recommend RF3 or RF4 over RF5. RF5 has performance issues and is a bit weird feeling but it is playable.. but I may also be biased to 3 and 4 due to nostalgia. If it matters on whether you can play as a male or female protag pick up 4 or 5.

Both RF3 and RF5 arrived as ESRB for me. Their product pages don't have the same warning banner as other Switch games.
