It used to be because that way is easier to mass produce it without getting a bunch of overstock from one console that doesn't move many software, so they just change the cover wrap and sell it for another console.
But now it's just because of maximum profitability.
Yeah it's unfortunately a common denominator. Though some companies are still doing collectors editions with discs, the next big one being Doom Dark Ages.
I don't like to moan (well, i do. But that's besides the point) But i'm a little disappointed it wasn't a 1:1 replica of Doll Man. I was convinced it would be, more fool me. lol.
Incredible. Sony and Hideo have somehow convinced people that this is worth $230 without a physical copy of the game. Hideo is just as bad as the rest of them.
ive yet to get an answer What value does a disk give for a game that very likely will far exceed the space of ps5 disks? a requirement to potentially damage your ability to play?
A disk for a modern game is basically just an extra step to loading your game up is it not?
Sony has already revoked access to digital media before. Anyone that has bought a movie or tv show through PlayStation lost the ability to access it back in 2022 because Sony just didn’t want to keep it available. One day that may happen to their games.
Might just be me. Very lackluster CE. Besides missing the physical copy or no Steelbook. The statue is lackluster. I rather have a full size Dollman. Might just go for the Standard.

Death stranding 2 is a significant step up in visual quality.
Games regularly hit 100+ gigs
the extra step is every time you want to play you need to put the disk, the disk thats doing nothing but validating your download?
It's really wild to me people who seemingly are very progressive want to hold onto physical media waste instead of improve digital rights.
