Clearly a need for more education. Our armed forces deserve better, especially in these unsettled times. If we can afford to find extra money for train drivers we must surely make sure service people are fully equipped.

Taxation doesn't pay for defence spending or any other form of government spending. Taxation does many things but this isn't one of them. Read Prof Richard Murphy on the subject.

In which case, they should shut up and not complain when they can't access public services and when their bins don't get emptied. To fund increases in Defence spending, the Government either has to raise taxes or makes deep cuts to public services. The public can't have it both ways.
