I've been to the Coorong but I can't recall seeing nesting sites. Sometimes there's a birding boat tour that leaves from Goolwa. Would like to do that one day.
Where to see pelicans
Jack Point Pelican Observatory Walk: A 1.2 km walk through the sand dunes to a viewing area with views of pelican breeding grounds
North Pelican Island: An island in the Coorong South Lagoon where Australian pelicans breed
Wonderful, I have seen similar many times especially at the Inskip Point Ramsar protected sand bar. Often the cormorants line up with one errant pelican in their midst.😊💕
Pelicans in flight resemble Catalina flying boats to me, big bellies, high long wings, slow looping flight. One day someone will get the pair of them above Lake Illawarra.
