If someone with a knack for sorting out networking issues can help a guy out:
- I'm supposed to get around 60-80Mbps download speed
- I get these speeds on pretty much every device EXCEPT my desktop PC
- Desktop PC gets around 20-40Mbps down on Wi-Fi and around 20Mbps on *ethernet*
why

Got an old/spare router lying around you can test to isolate the issue to your current router or broadband connection?
I'm actually wondering now if there's some kind of cap with my PC's Wi-Fi card? But, strange that it also affects wired connections.
I'm wondering if your router has got some sort of weird MAC bandwidth filtering going on or something similarly weird.
- All the basic troubleshooting stuff (moved router, reset it, changed cables)
- Flushed DNS
- Checked the Wi-Fi card inside my PC (it supports up to 300Mbps)
- Checked and updated drivers
- I have also done a full Windows re-install today
Oh and check your network latency when playing online games.
I was getting 10Mbps vs the 70 I pay for on wifi, so I ran a super long Ethernet cable round my doors and stairs instead.
Is it a direct connection from router to PC? No switches or wall ports? Or powerline adapters?
I keep thinking it might be dodgy signal, but on the other hand doing a speedtest on my phone/laptop/steam deck etc in the same location gives me much better results
If everything else gets good signal, it's just honestly likely something in a wall and there's not a lot you can do about that other than hardwire. You can always get crafty with the cord mgmnt through the house though, like I did.
