I spent the morning readinga deeply reported and revealing article in ProPublica about a cancer doctor in my state’s capital who had a few superlatives to his name…longest-lived stage 4 lung cancer patient in the world, most hours billed of any doctor, most morphine prescribed in 2017.

The same can be said of the Washington Post and just about every major newspaper today.
The corporate media is caving before our eyes.
ProPublica is going to be the last, decentralized bastion of a free press. Defend her.
The one who literally killed multiple patients because he dosed them with poison (yep, that's what chemo is) and then proceeded to threaten to sue everyone when it came out.
Yeah. He should be in jail for murder.
Cancer doc gets paid to treat cancer
Cancer doc realizes CURING cancer = no money
Cancer doc starts fake diagnosis on real people and bills the hell out of them, killing a LOT of patients
Cancer doc's hospital is complicit
Cancer doc doesn't quit or get arrested, instead goes full Trumpian cultist leader
Cancer doc gets disbarred, sues
Cancer doc's culty fangirls play the MAGA playbook even though said cancer doc literally killed people
And this is in Helena, Montana
But the short version is "cancer doc kills his patients and makes a shit ton of money off of their chemo, splitting profit with the hospital while making more money than anyone else".
You wonder why people cheered a CEO death? This is why
That story started to unravel when it turned out that stage 4 lung cancer patient, who would eventually die of his treatments, probably never had cancer.

The worst part about this story isn't even the harm this guy did.
He can still practice medicine, he isn't facing criminal investigations, the hospital that allowed this to happen got off with a slap on the wrist and despite all of these revelations, people still believe in this monster.
A story of cowardice and bravery and greed and fucked up systems.
Your Christmas presents this year from me is a large donation to propublica.
What is it about our information environment that makes it so easy for people to exit reality?
And THEN we have bigots proclaiming to be the patrons of rationality.
It’s fucked.

Incredible gift idea, by the way.

To tie it to current events, it highlights that health insurance companies should be allowed to investigate fraud. That said, this was happening over a decade, and insurance didn’t flag it.
I guess the doctor is (probably) not actively trying to kill her, but is that the best we can ask/hope for?
So, basically, this asshole's arrogance (maybe narcissism) is what opened this all to public scrutiny. How... comforting?
I hope you don't have pets or kids.
also, no way that's an anomaly- just the one that came to light
And this is also excellent reporting.
I posted it last week, but you have a somewhat larger following than I do . . .

What a world.
insurance when this guy is prescribing morphine right and left: "sure, have as much as you like, we won't even check to see if they have cancer"
He got his license taken away a few years ago because he caught giving unnecessary treatment to get more💲from insurances like Medicaid/Medicare.
They just gave him his license back.
That doctor still has,a position in the hospital. JC
And fishy. So very fishy.
