You can still buy 'Ratsak Double Strength', which is a first-gen product (warfarin ... yep, the same as the once-popular 'blood thinner' drug). ALL OF THE REST OF THE RATSAK RANGE IS DANGEROUS SECOND-GEN RUBBISH, so be very careful.

There's also 'Racumen', which is coumatetralyl, another safer first-gen rodenticide, but I've never seen it for sale in a store. That's about it. Great stuff, isn't it.

People may have forgotten that back in 2021, 'She saved Australia' Berejiklian bought up tonnes of bromadiolone as a political stunt, during the mouse plague, then tried to pressure APVMA to permit its 'emergency' broad-acre use. Encouragingly, the regulator did not buckle.

Perhaps if people realised that second-gen rodenticides are *far more likely to kill your dog* ... if it finds a bait (just one will do), or a dead rat. Here's the treatment protocol from a vet manual: antidoted injections every 12 hours FOR 28 DAYS.

...Or even your toddler. Another source says that treatment for brodifacoum poisoning may have to continue for as long as 9 months (though presumably at reduced intensity). That's how STUPIDLY LONG its biological half life is.

I’ve used Racumen in my barn when the 🐀 have got out of hand. It’s usually available from rural supplies shops as it’s safer for farm environments. Now I have a resident Red Bellied 🐍 rat catcher & won’t have to poison again, just be careful where I reach & step 😜.

Our dogs have been poisoned twice on walks from regular weed and rat killer intended for pests. This has to stop.
