Biggest party or not, if there isn't a move to maximise the vote and return a comprehensive Indy majority in HR26 we're probably sunk. Because a Reform government (or anything that looks like one) in WM29 finishes Holyrood.

The SNP need to tell us the new plan, because SNP1&2 could doom us all.

Devolution so far and I would argue even more dangerous than the Internal Markets Act as it would in Labour's eyes remove power from Holyrood with Regional Mayors directly funded from Westminster. This looks like a Labour plan to attract the more rabid unionist vote from Reform and the Tories.

There's a good argument for greater powers for local councils but for Labour the purpose is reducing the power of Holyrood vis a vis Westminster, rendering Holyrood less of a threat, increasing Westminster power in Scotland, & transferring power to bodies Labour is more likely to control.

Could also lead to abuses of power. Imagine if a non Labour Scottish mayor is elected yet Starmer was only providing budgets based on decisions made at Westminster and you are forced to comply.

Interesting pt about disaffected Lab supporters defecting to Reform. From my days of Lab membership & activism on Tyneside there's always been a thick vein of reactionary/racist/xenophobic/misogynistic/anti-semitic discourse within Lab. It's a mistake to view Lab as an entirely progressive party.
