Just a year ago Anas Sarwar was confidently predicting he'd be the next First Minister of Scotland, now it looks like he'll lead Labour in Scotland to its worst ever defeat in a Holyrood election.

I'm wondering if he'll still be the leader in the run-up to 2026?
If they ditch him now, they might claw some support back.
Maybe back to Richard Leonard?
But he must avoid attacking SNP and campaign against reform and tories, that's the voter base he could perhaps bring to Scottish Labour.
The man was NEVER leadership material. I laugh at him frequently at FMQs when he is not quick-witted enough to adapt his questions when they have already been asked by a Tory leader & answered by John in the fullness of his response. I think he swore to jump high if WM Labour asked him too.
Itβs less about any ability to adapt or not (Anasbot adapt πππ), itβs about being branch office spokesperson and operating in a straightjacket. Northern BO policy is driven by HO, questions to FM are dictated by HO. No deviation is permitted.
So, NBO SP is nothing more than a neutered lackey.
I can't escape the feeling that he's finished, & is only being held in position to be the scapegoat.
All the crap is going to be placed around his neck, he'll not even be allowed to stand again, & starmer will appoint a new ' leader ' around November, to give them a 6 month run in to the election.
That is almost exactly what Starmer did to Richard Leonard, former leader of the fake political party 'Scottish Labour'. He did allow Leonard to run again.
Difference is, Leonard was in place afore Starmer replaced him with Sarwar.
He'll not want his mistake still hanging about at Holyrood stinking the place out reminding everyone about his own lack of judgement.
Leonard was also not right-wing enough for Starmer. The situations are not identical but similar and both show who really runs 'Scottish Labour' and that it is no one who is Scottish.
As I said, Monica Lennon is the only one that springs to my mind, Baillie is far too compromised for her to take the job IMO, but Sir Keirs judgement is not of the best.
Progression up the Scottish Labour greasy pole to entitlement, power, influence and enrichment (the motivation they joined) Requires betrayal, backstabbing, giving favours, calling them in discarding undesirable human traits like integrity and ethics on the way.
Baillie's just treading an old path
Baillie was set to retire before the election.
But changed her mind when it looked like she'd finally get her monstrous snout into the government trough.
I cannot tell you how pleased I am that it looks like this dream will crumble to dust and her career will end in the abject failure she deserves.
Good enough for Anus the nepo baby millionaire, business owning poverty wage paying RedToryScum.
He only stopped paying minimum wage because it was highlighted in the media.
I hope youβre right about that. He is only in politics to get a seat in the House of Lords. His inability to stand up to his London masters is trashing his reputation in Scotland.
But thereβs a long way to go before the next election, & the media will go all out for a Unionist victory.

Expect she's been getting trained up to take over the role in private.
Sarwar: Seat in the House of Lords
Baillie: Installed as leader

These days, I never underestimate the levels of corruption.
