The EU isn't a military power yet but it is one of the top 3 economic powers. It should leverage this power but instituting sanctions on Russian gas and oil for Russia and tertiary countries if Russia doesn't leave Ukrainian lands and sue for peace.

Thank you for posting this Jacob. It is a welcome & necessary action. Somehow the UK & Canada need to link into a wider defence/security pact with the EU (& EEA countries). If KS would move on his ‘red lines’ over the SM this would make cooperation with the European Defence Agency so much easier.

Mostly hot air.
650b of the 800b is "you can borrow more for defense in the next 4 years".
But borrowing wasn't a problem.
EU countries made a policy decision not to invest in defense for decades. It's a policy. Money isn't the problem.
Also, many EU countries can't afford to borrow more now.

By ring fencing borrowing for defence spending, currencies should remain stable.

Another thing @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu and @kajakallas.bsky.social I think there is still a wealth of knowledge of industrial workmanship in the East of the EU. Invest in building a normal and weaponmaking industry there (not Orbán). You'll be investing in both people and countries that need it.
