So I heard that if you "google" for Gulf of Mexico, the mal shows Gulf of America. I used DuckDuckGo and asked about the Golf of Mexico and got what I asked for. Stop using Google and use DuckDuckGo.

A quick resistance task:
Google Gulf of Mexico (on a Google search engine)
Click on the three little dots to the right of “Gulf of America”.
Select "Send Feedback"
Click on "Gulf Of America" text.
Select "Inaccurate content"> “Incorrect" and type "The name of this body of water is Gulf of Mexico”
I went to the weather channel and because it is an international reporting station the Gulf of Mexico is still clearly labeled. Hint it can also serve as an accurate map.
Or use Ecosia. A search engine and web browser based in Berlin, Germany. The company uses renewable energy to power its servers and invests its profits in tree-planting projects, aiming to absorb more CO 2 than it emits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFhbD3ChCU4
Fwiw, in case this fun fact got buried in the flurry of awful & ridiculous news, it only shows that way to US users. We've been designated as a "sensitive country" which puts us in embarrassing company.

Glad I never did use Gmail
Denali stood, so proud, so tall,
Yet high tech bent to Trump’s loud call.
The Gulf, the peak, both lost their name,
To fuel a fragile ego’s flame.
Thanks for the heads up, I replaced google maps with that now.

If enough people realize Google is not their friend and switch search engines, that is an act of resistance.
