He was the President of my Community College and I don’t think any of the students had a clue about who he was. A year later I joined the Air Force and began to learn about the famed Airmen. I later got to meet him in person at a unit event. What an amazing man!
We owe the Tuskegee Airmen a large debt of gratitude. They fought fascism as did my six relatives who fought in Italy, France, North Africa and other places.
The Red Tails have the lowest loss record of all fighter escort groups, and were in constant demand from allied bomber units, and hold a record that is unmatched by any other fighter unit.
